Baraimu Update - Autumn 2006 : John and Faith Nyota have been three years in the Wimbledon Circuit. They were planted there by the World Church Organisation and one of the conditions was that they take a three month furlough after three years. So they set out for Kenya this Summer. John went out for June to August. Faith joined him with the children in July and whilst John bought the children home at the end of August, Faith stayed on during September.
Whilst there, they were able to progress the construction of the school and saw it with its roof on. John took some photos and these can be seen on the Autumn Update page.
The Midsummer Charity
Concert on 24th June, has so far raised £638.00 for the
"Toto Simba" project. Some monies were donated and Gift Aided
so we shall benefit by another £91.56 pounds when the taxman eventually pays up. This
will bring a grand total of £729.56. Well done everyone and many, many
thanks to the artistes, audience, front of house and backroom boys, in fact all who made
a thoroughly enjoyable evening possible.
Baraimu Update - April 2006 : The building of the school/craft workshop/community centre is now moving on apace with construction up to the lintel level, ready (almost) for the roof to go on. More photos have been received and may viewed on our Photo Update page.
Kenyan Trip - August 2005 : This has now happened and the team have been debriefed to find out what, if any, improvements can be made for the next trip, currently scheduled for Summer 2007. Everyone who went found it a very emotional experience and something which they would not have missed for the world. The villagers in Kenya, although not having very much of their own, were generous to a fault. There's many a lesson to be learnt by all of us.
Information from the various journals that were kept, photos from the many cameras and even a DVD from film shot by Rob King are all being distilled and as soon as more information is available, it will be made available via this web site.
In the meantime, a diary written by the Wimbledon Circuit Superintendant, Rev Barrie Tabraham, can be downloaded by right-clicking here and selecting "Save Target as" to save it to your own PC. This will give you a taster of what is to come. Beware it is 21 pages long and 108kb in size!
